Personally, I like the Page creator better, as it gives you more flexibility over the layout and theme of your site. The new Google Sites also has a bunch of links at the bottom such as Powered by Google, etc. The Sites version does have the Gmail-like loading feature, but it would have been simpler to add that to their Page creator.
